About Us
Helping children grow from the roots up.
Welcome to Move & Mend
At Move & Mend, we believe emotional wellbeing isn’t something that should only be supported when children reach crisis point. It should be nurtured every day through movement, connection, understanding and relationships that help children feel secure enough to grow.
Move & Mend was created with one simple goal: to give children and the adults around them practical tools to build resilience from the inside out.
Where It All Began
After more than a decade in education, one thing became impossible to ignore. More and more children were arriving at school carrying worries far bigger than they should ever have to carry. Anxiety, emotional overwhelm and difficulties with regulation were becoming part of everyday life, yet many adults around them felt unsure how best to help.
I saw children labelled as “challenging” when what they were really communicating was fear, frustration, sensory overwhelm or simply a need to feel safe. Alongside them were parents and carers doing everything they could, often feeling exhausted, isolated and unsure where to turn.
That’s when I realised families didn’t need more judgement, they needed understanding, practical support and somewhere they could feel welcomed.
Move & Mend grew from that belief.
Why This Matters to Me
Alongside my professional experience, I’ve also navigated my own journey with anxiety and, more recently, an adult ADHD diagnosis. Those experiences have strengthened something I’ve believed throughout my teaching career:
Children don’t need adults who have all the answers. They need adults who are willing to understand them.
That belief shapes everything we do at Move & Mend.
What You’ll Find Here
Move & Mend has been created for parents, carers, schools and professionals who want to support children’s emotional wellbeing with confidence. Through movement, emotional literacy and practical regulation strategies, we help children (and the adults around them) build the understanding, resilience and tools they need to thrive.
Small moments of connection today become the strong foundations children build on tomorrow.
Meet Michaela
I’m Kay, founder of Move & Mend.
With more than ten years of experience in education, leadership and wellbeing, I’ve supported children, families and schools across a wide range of settings. My work has always centred on one simple idea: when children feel safe, understood and connected, they’re better able to learn, grow and flourish.
Move & Mend brings together everything I’ve learned as a teacher, leader and wellbeing practitioner to create practical, compassionate support that makes a difference in everyday life.
Our Promise
Every child deserves to feel safe.
Every family deserves to feel supported.
Every educator deserves practical tools that make a difference.
And every person who joins the Move & Mend community deserves to feel welcomed exactly as they are.
